Personality disorders are a complex mental health condition that effects multiple areas of a person’s life including behaviors, thoughts and feelings. These disorders often affect one’s ability to understand and relate to other people due to the lack of self-monitoring and self-correcting abilities. This disables the individual’s ability to adequately assess situations or to alter their reactions for good consequences which results in inappropriate behavior, escalation and upset.

These things deeply affect the client's relationships.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

EMDR therapy is an evidence based psychotherapy treatment utilizing bilateral stimulation – designed to help the brain appropriately process “frozen” flight, freeze responses by safely reconnecting the client to thoughts, body sensations and emotions by creating stronger more positive neural networks  and desensitizing inhibiting connections.

Cognitive behavior therapy

Cognitive behavior therapy is an evidence -based therapy that focuses on what we think (cognitive) and what we do (Behavior). The research shows that out thoughts affect our feelings and behaviors.

Using CBT we will identify irrational beliefs, challenges those beliefs and directly address problematic behaviors. In addition, CBT looks at an individual’s negative core beliefs and the therapist works to help change the beliefs that aren’t helpful.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based treatment composed of four pillars: Mindfulness Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance and Emotional Regulation. DBT treatment includes personal accountability and willingness to engage in the practice of skills through homework, behavior tracking and commitment to being willing to create the life you envision.

Parent Coaching

Therapeutic parent coaching is designed to address parenting difficulties, reunification work, improving the parent-child relationship, co-parenting and improving leadership skills in the home. This type of coaching focuses on assisting parents, co parents or stepparents in better understanding their child’s behavior, having realistic expectations, implementing structure and consistency in the home as well as creating a healthy environment to target problematic behaviors.
